Generally, the more detail a shoe has, the more it costs, particularly when that detail is beading or rhinestones. Many customers are willing to pay a premium for shoes that are truly special, and designers know it and reflect that in their prices. Designers like Giuseppe Zanotti, who is particularly known for his heavy detailing, command prices well into the four figures for some seriously shiny shoes.
With that in mind, the Luxury Rebel Lily Boot comes with a somewhat surprising sub-$400 price tag. If you had shown me a picture of these shoes with no other identifying information, I would have guessed that they were made by the aforementioned Zanotti, and I would have been wrong. But wait…is that a red sole?
It appears as though Luxury Rebel tends to use a pinkish dye on the soles of its shoes, and some end up being darker than others. That’s not as bad as the outright red Louboutin rip-off that some brands pull, but it still gave me a moment of pause when I was looking at this pair. If brands were going to go with a colored sole, I wish they’d pick a different color family altogether.
Other than that small quibble, this design receives high marks. The beading is bold and plentiful, and the juxtaposition of textures with the rich suede underneath is season-appropriate and luxurious. The detail around the foot opening in particular would create a beautiful cuff when paired with opaque tights. For the price, these boots are a worthy Zanotti alternative. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $390.
